Westport's 2009 Yankee Doodle Fair
We went to Westport's annual Yankee Doodle Fair this past weekend and Mia had the best time. We could not get over how much of a daredevil she has turned into. She clearly takes after her Father! She is 4 days shy of 2 years old she went on the flying Dumbo ride, the dizzy dragon and even the Ferris Wheel! She fell short of the height requirement for the roller coaster and cried as she watched her two cousins John & Wil go on without her. By the look on her face in most pictures it may seem like she didn't enjoy herself, but she really did; we just missed those smile shots.

Memorial Day
From left to right: Chase Kober (Santoro), Charlotte & Danny Tedesco (Blomquist), my Mia Rae and Ryan Rodriguez (Young). Watching our kids grow up together is a gift. I hope they remain as good of friends as their Mommy's have.

A Rabbit in the Hat
With my daughter's 2nd birthday quickly approaching, I am officially in party planning mode. While I am not sure of the theme just yet, I am certain she will be wearing the same party hat as last year. It’s too darn cute not to reuse! A Rabbit in the Hat Party Hats are handmade by San Francisco based designer Leigh Metcalf. Each hat is covered in whimsical fabrics and adorned with pom-poms, ruffles and rick rack. And the construction and quality of the hat is hands down. If it can survive a Toddler playing with it nearly every day for the past year, it’s sure to last many more years to come.
While new designs are added often, they do sell quickly. Therefore, if you see one you like, scoop it up before someone else does!

Trying Something New, So Bear With Me!
To all my miaraeverrengia.blogspot.com readers which consist of my Mother, Husband, 5 closest friends, a couple of cousins and an Aunt who visits this blog when a relative is there to show her how to use her computer (God Bless her). As you can see from the two posts below I am trying something new. For those who know me, you would probably say that the two things I enjoy most are buying things and then telling you all about them (sorry). Well I have decided to put it all into words and create a web site for my product reviews for no other reason than, I need a hobby. I don't claim to be a know it all; I just really love to share good things when I come across them. Once I have created my site I will be sure to share it with all of you. In the mean time, I will be posting on Mia's blog.
I hope you will all support me by reading & commenting. And if there is something specific you would like me to research and post about, just let me know by commenting or emailing me at jenverrengia@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Jen

A Clutch that Doubles as an Agenda - -
I am proud of the fact that I've gone completely paperless when it comes to keeping a calendar and I would not trade my iphone in for the world. However, every now and again I miss toting around my trusty DayRunner when I need a place to store items such as bills, greeting cards, stamps and my daughter's school forms, to name just a few. That is why I love the Tarrytown Nikolette by Kate Spade. This envelope clutch measures 7.6" by 10.5" and features a snap closure. It’s the perfect size to store those papers you never seem to have a place for and it fits easily inside an oversized handbag or laptop case. The best part about it is that it doubles as a clutch, which is what I believe it was originally designed for. Just throw in your phone, wallet and some mints and you’re off! So, there you have it. By day it's the perfect agenda and by night it's the perfect clutch. I bought mine in a cheerful Kelly Green color which I was lucky enough to nab on sale at the Kate Spade store at Garden State Plaza. I'll let you in on a little secret, if you hurry, I believe they have one ruby red one left and it is on sale for $56.00! Believe me, it won't disappoint. Not only is it functional, you’ll look good in the process.

The Best Invention Ever!
I bought this product a while ago and have been meaning to post about it. Every time I am out and about and my daughter has her pink camo snack sack in tow I get numerous compliments and inquiries from other Mothers. In a nut shell, The Snack Sack was designed to be used on the go, as well as at home. This little sack is made of cloth and has a cotton drawstring which can easily be opened and tied shut. Inside you will find a dishwasher safe stainless steel bowl (sold separately) which allows you to transport almost anything that you would normally take in a plastic baggie. My daughter loves hers and I often fill it with cheerios, sliced apples, cheese, etc. and very rarely have to clean up after her as everything stays put. That is why it’s great for car rides or trips to the grocery store. It even comes with a nifty carabiner clip that easily attaches to almost anything. In addition, with so many startling reports of how plastic hoards bacteria and leeches toxic chemicals into foods, not to mention the amount of waste that plastic bags produce, who wouldn’t want one of these. And if you don’t have kids, no worries! This sack was basically designed for anyone on the go. I personally love the chic Emilio Pucci-Esque fabric for myself. Visit their web site for more information on price, fabric selection and more reasons as to why the “The Snack Sack” is truly one of the best little inventions I’ve ever come across.

After every bath, Mia makes us put on her bath robe & loves to wear her pink Mets hat backwards. It's a bizarre little ritual; we know.
